Operations Manager

Primary Job Functions

  • Directly supervise all operations shift supervisors and day supervisor
  • Direct responsibility for all aspects of the operations organization including staffing, recruiting and hiring, scheduling, overtime, performance evaluations, training, conflict resolution, etc.  Additionally, the person in this position will help establish and will be responsible for maintaining the culture of the operations team, including such areas as safety, accountability, mentorship, environmental consciousness, etc.
  • Lead the operations team in such a way to promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale
  • Analyze trends for production forecasting and provide routine updates to the Next Wave senior management team
  • Support the business planning and strategy efforts, including establishing production and cost targets and the evaluation of “bolt on” project opportunities
  • Analyze and improve organizational processes and work to improve quality, productivity and efficiency
  • Responsible for ensuring that the plant is operated in a safe and environmentally compliant manner and for ensuring proper external reporting is completed when required
  • During plant manager absences, the individual in this role will be responsible for temporarily assuming those additional responsibilities, including making key decisions for the site
  • Manage the PSM effort for the operations team, including responsibility for ensuring all training, procedural updates and reporting are completed as required
  • Provide leadership for the Emergency Response Team (ERT), including developing emergency response plans and the incident command system, managing training and certification and ensuring compliance
  • Support the monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization of the facility 
  • Build external relationships with customers, business partners, community leaders and regulatory organizations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required
  • 15+ years of refinery or petrochemical plant experience required
  • Operations management or other leadership experience required
  • Specific experience with the sulfuric acid alkylation and/or olefin dimerization technologies preferred
  • Experience in commissioning and startup of new processing facilities preferred

  • Proficient with MS Office software
